Welcome to Episode 13 of “Reel Chat” – a podcast that guarantees week in, week out – the “Reel world as we know it.”
On this eleventh episode of our “Vintage Vault” retrospective series, host Adam Stolfo is joined by co-host Brose Avard, Andrew McCaskill and Stuart Wilson to discuss 2010’s “Buried” – a commonly overlooked, under-appreciated and ambitious “confined-space-thriller” that really demanded the “Reel Chat” treatment.
Can we all survive 95 minutes of being stuck inside a wooden box with Ryan Reynolds (Mr. “Van Wilder – Party Liaison” himself)? How did the claustrophobic experience of making the film take it’s toll on Reynolds both physically and mentally? Was the ending the ending we all wanted, or the ending the film demanded?
As an experiment in filmmaking this film succeeds admirably, and throughout the course of the episode the guys examine Reynold’s impressive (and intense) performance, it’s dynamic (and non-repetitive) cinematography, it’s real world plausibility, it’s DVD and Blu-Ray releases, and much, much more!
